Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Oct 21
Conterno's 2017 Barolo Ginestra is a wine of gravitas and pure power. All of the muscle of Ginestra comes through loud and clear. I am not sure the tannins will ever fully soften - this is Ginestra after all - but there is certainly plenty of depth. To be honest, today I find the Comune bottling to have better balance and more finesse.

This 2017 Diego Conterno Barolo Ginestra has a a pretty youthful ruby color. It is very gentle and subtle, with red fruits like redcurrants and with a slight green note. It is tangy with a juicy freshness and acidity and lots of dense, fine tannins and some salty, savory notes. Wait 2-3 years to drink, but it will keep 15-20 years.
